KDM stood for Royal Metal Industry (formerly J.N. Daalderop & Sons). Founded in 1880, the company is now known as Royal Holland Pewter, and was founded in Tiel, the Netherlands. Pewter is one of the world\'s first metals and was expertly worked into objects of art by the Greeks, Romans and Chinese. History shows that pewter came into European households to replace the more clumsy wooden utensils of the time. When early immigrants came to the New World, they brought their precious pewter with them! A mid-century Royal Holland Pewter Coffee & Tea Set was the centerpiece on the cover of the September 2015 issue of \"Dwell Magazine.\"
This is a vintage Royal Holland Pewter Coffee & Tea Set made of pewter with teak wood handles and matching teak/pewter tray. It is an extremely gorgeous display piece or you can use it to serve coffee and tea to your guests. You can use silver polish to clean the pewter but I have left it in its vintage condition. It is in very good condition although the outside of the pewter does have surface scratches and tiny dings consistent with its vintage age (please review all pictures before offerding!). This is typical for mid-century modern sets from the 1960\'s. I have polished the tray, but left the teak handles in their \"vintage\" condition - you can easily polish them with any good wood cleaner if you desire. The tray also has slight surface scratches. Photos #3 and #5 are camera glare on the wood tray, not discoloration. Some customers like the \"patina\" that comes with these vintage sets. It is unusual to find this set with all the original pieces - 8 including coffee pot with lid, tea pot with lid, sugar bowl with lid, creamer and accompanying teak oval tray with pewter handles. The coffee and tea pots, plus the sugar bowl, all have teak knobs. Here are the measurements for each piece:
