Vintage LANE CEDAR HOPE CHEST Keepsake Box SALESMAN SAMPLE Goodman\'s Furniture
In my mother\'s day, women were expected to get married quickly after graduating from high school, so a hope chest was necessary to start storing things needed for her future household. The Lane Furniture Company made (and still makes) hope/cedar chests and these mini boxes were given to graduating seniors if they came into the store with their parents, where they would be given a hard-sell to purchase a full-size cedar chest. Overall, this mini chest is in good condition. There is some marring on the front which I believe was caused by someone trying to pry open the box. Perhaps the marks can be sanded out to be less noticeable.There is no key but they are widely available. It\'s a very simple lock design--not exactly Fort Knox--and I was able to open this box using a diary key (not included).
