Although he is painted to resemble cinnabar, he seems to be carved wood and features a scroll design on his back, legs and head. His ears and head are oversized, giving him a whimsical look. I'm not sure of the dating of this piece, but I have owned him for more than 10 years. He's a great pet for your collection -- and one you don't have to clean up after.
