Circa:
Mid to Late 19th Century
Price: $165.00 USD Description: 19th century hand painted portrait. Really a large portrait miniature. It measures 25 cm by 19.5 cm framed (9.3/4 inches by 7.3/4 inches). Watercolour. Interesting study - whereas the face is very well painted and a very sensitive rendition, the clothing is rather crude in comparison. The gold mount is showing signs of green tarnish, and there are two scratches in the glass in one corner. The frame has a silver gilded beading around the portrait and mount, and all is encased in burgundy morocco leather (which has some wear on the front edges). It has a top-mounted hanging ring, and the rear carries a gold embossed stamp Mr Herbert Watkins, 179 Regent Street. Whether Mr Watkins is the framer, the artist, or the subject I have no idea. Overall very good condition.
Circa:
1901-1910
Price: $174.00 USD Description: Two silhouettes, circa 1900-1910. One is “William”, the other “John”. Young boys, slicked hair and white collars. There is some pencilled outline detail to the clothes. Nicely framed with easel backs. They each measure 14 cm by 9.5 cm (5.1/2 inches by 3.3/4 inches). Condition is very good - the only fault is some yellowing to the paper.
