Carved Oak Victorian Sideboard, Mask Heads.
Circa: 1880s
Price: $2500.00 USD
Description: Well detailed 19th century Victorian oak sideboard. Carved with mask heads in foliage centrally to the backstand, the drawers and the cupboard doors. Cupboard doors have open-mouthed head with tongue, drawers have head with whiskers (possibly lion's head) and backstand has acanthus leaves radiating from head. Two drawers over two cupboards. Top has carved detail to thumbnail edge. Sides are panelled. Inside, the two cupboards have new locks - shelf support ledges, but no shelves (originally had one shelf in each cupboard). Sideboard measures 124.5 cm high, 152.5 cm wide and 59.5 cm deep (49 inches high, 60 inches wide and 23.1/2 inches deep). Very good condition . Shipping outside New Zealand would be expensive.
Oak Arts and Crafts Sideboard, 1920s.
Circa: 1920s
Price: $800.00 USD
Description: New Zealand Arts & Crafts movement sideboard - made in oak, with glazed doors and shallow mirror back. Character details, like overlay of oak to the glazing, and extensions of the top at the sides. Nice smaller size makes it easy to fit in anywhere. Came from its original cottage homestead, built in the 1920s. Been there since new. Measures 133 cm high, 141 cm wide and 48 cm deep. In very good condition - only small faults are: one glass pane is cracked - however, the glass is an oblong, as the oak detailing is overlaid, so easy to get a replacement pane cut. There is a slight plank separation at one end of the top - again, would settle down with a clamp and some glue, or just leave it, its not an eyesore. One piece of the oak overlay on the glass needs gluing - again, minor. There is a small amount of old borer at one side. Has been treated.
