Description: A small black lacquer table chest or jewelry box - just 15cm high (6 inches). It has engraved brass corners and hinges. The panels of the two doors are inlaid with mother of pearl, and hand decorated with a pattern of leaves, birds and flowers, using the pearl and gold lacquer. The inner two drawers and insides of the doors are painted with metallic lacquer, and also hand painted with foliage. This is a lovely little piece, and is in good sound condition. There is some wear to the paintwork on the right hand front door face, with paint losses, and some spotting to the top of the cabinet. This delightful cabinet would date from the very early 20th century. It is 15cm wide and 8cm deep (6 inches by 3.1/8 inches).
