The detail is wonderful and the colors still vibrant. The sides of the box still have almost perfect veneer and although the paint is peeling in spots, the photos show the craftsmanship of this treasure from old world Russia. A very creative artist, Ms. Albro studied in Paris then Mexico with Diego Rivera. On the base of this sculpture is stamped "Matuyshka Russian Peasant" Copyright Maxine Albro. Hand-painted in bright and cheerful colors. There is some minor wear on the paint in a few places and a chip under her shawl not really visible on display. Very Heavy Piece.
