"Becassine" French Character King's Cake Plates

Description: This wonderful set of Eight (8)Becassine plates were designed for "Galettes des Rois" or "King's Cake"(like petit-fours) which are part of the festivities of Epiphany. These cakes are also part of the observance of Mardi Gras in the French Catholic culture of the Southern USA). Becassine is shown in various scenes ranging from a Lion Tamer, Mountain Climber to Adventuress in a touring car. The raised relief border in pale green frame these colorful "dishes"

Vintage �USSR� Nesting Dolls

Description: Vintage nesting doll set from Brest Region of USSR entitled, �Happy Family�. This �Matryoshka� set of five (5), shows the extended family of the mother or mother-in-law, husband, wife, son and daughter. Background of this regions doll is outlined on p. 29 of �A Collectors Guide to Nesting Dolls� by Michele Lefkovitz.

Molly'es Cloth Doll "Ramon of Spain"

Description: This handsome young lad with mask face and cloth body was made by the Molly'es Doll Company, NY. He still has the original hand-tag attached and wears a traditional Spanish costume. A leather-like hat covers jet black yarn hair, blue felt vest with gold braid trim over a white shirt. A red paisley cummerbund at the waist, black pants with gold side trim and bright red flair. This young gentleman makes a nice mate to the Averill "Gypsy Girl, Item#1682 now available in my shop.

Georgene Avrill "Irish Lass" Cloth Doll

Description: This is a simply charming Georgene Averill cloth doll in Irish Costume. Clothes are all original in green felt and cloth. Shoes have been replaced with faux pearl button boots. She has a beautifully painted face with eyelashes on her eyes. There has been some fading on the cheeks and under eyes but she is still precious for a vintage doll.

Description: This wonderful cloth doll was made in the Soviet Union. His face and hands are "stockinette" and his face has been delicately hand painted. He�s wearing a tan felt Cossack style hat, a red tunic with side buttons and traditional Bast shoes.

Soviet Union Antique "Stockinette Doll"

Circa: Early 20th Century

Description: This extraordinary Soviet Union Hand-made "stockinette" cloth doll from the early 20th Century depicts a Village Girl. From her head-dress and costume she appears to be from the Tula Oblast region in Western Russia. She is wearing a cream linen and red costume with a red plaid over-skirt. On her feet are the traditional villager bast shoes of the time period. There is some age yellowing of her blouse but her hand-painted features are exquisite and there are no rips or tears in her outfit. There is a hand-sewn label attached under her skirt: Made in Soviet Union. (See Description)
