These cakes are also part of the observance of Mardi Gras in the French Catholic culture of the Southern USA).
Becassine is shown in various scenes ranging from a Lion Tamer, Mountain Climber to Adventuress in a touring car. The raised relief border in pale green frame these colorful "dishes"

He still has the original hand-tag attached and wears a traditional Spanish costume. A leather-like hat covers jet black yarn hair, blue felt vest with gold braid trim over a white shirt. A red paisley cummerbund at the waist, black pants with gold side trim and bright red flair. This young gentleman makes a nice mate to the Averill "Gypsy Girl, Item#1682 now available in my shop.

Shoes have been replaced with faux pearl button boots. She has a beautifully painted face with eyelashes on her eyes. There has been some fading on the cheeks and under eyes but she is still precious for a vintage doll.

Price: $65.00 USD Description: This extraordinary Soviet Union Hand-made "stockinette" cloth doll from the early 20th Century depicts a Village Girl. From her head-dress and costume she appears to be from the Tula Oblast region in Western Russia. She is wearing a cream linen and red costume with a red plaid over-skirt. On her feet are the traditional villager bast shoes of the time period. There is some age yellowing of her blouse but her hand-painted features are exquisite and there are no rips or tears in her outfit. There is a hand-sewn label attached under her skirt: Made in Soviet Union. (See Description)
