There is a small ¾” tear at bottom (open, may be closed with tape) and overall good + condition for its age. Flourish scroll style engraving on cover/front page. Break the News to Mother – Civil War Themed Song

Description: by Charles K. Harris. 1897 copyrighted and published by Charles K. Harris. This 1897 edition with cover photo of the lovely Attie Spence is the Spanish American War issue of a Civil War Themed Song. Harris re-issued this piece by popular demand during WWI in 1917 with a new cover by Starmer. The song tells of a brave young man who during the Civil War carries his country’s flag into the thick of battle; the General discovers that the brave wounded and dying soldier who saved their flag was his own son. This piece is in good + condition considering it is 109 years old. The spine has been hand sewn with 1 small horizontal tear (inside folio spine is intact) and the edges are stained and have a few small tears (turning tears). There are no strong folds other than a light corner bend, or any writing on the cover or within. The cover has no significant damage other than light soiling and an abrasion bottom right. Please see additional photos. First photo is of central graphic which is in good+ condition, second photo is scan of front cover overall. Overall Good + condition.
