This is a rarely seen, 1870's-1890's era horse bridle bit with a single split twist mouth piece, with two 3" diameter outer rings that are formed with one smaller diameter area on each to hold the snaffle sections in place, yet allow movement or swivel of the rings and snaffle section in that area. This is a all hand forged bit, and is very clean, and could actually be used. There is some evidence of minor past rust pitting, but is not rusty now. An antique worthy of being displayed! We have seen none like it to date! We have several bridal bits from the 19th century for sale. A most interesting collection!
