This fine bronze was cast directly from a saber tooth tiger skull excavated from the La Brea Tar Pits. This particular skull was part of a set of completely intact fossilized remains pulled from the tar pit in the 1990's. Using the Carbon 14 dating process, this skull was estimated to be at least 20,000 years old. This piece was extensively researched and contains the intricate detailed markings of the original, capturing all of the fine details of the tiger's skull, jaws and teeth. It is so lifelike that the jaw is actually movable!
