View Larger Image   Art Nouveau Glass Lined Basket.   Description: European metal basket, very WMF in style - has a mellow gilded colour, probably was gilded brass, or gilded nickel silver - anyway, very pretty and a nice colour. Art Nouveau style, from very early 20th century, circa 1900-1910. It has a glass liner, and would have been a fruit basket or similar. The metal carries a clear maker’s mark, but I just can’t make out the letters. It appears to be a bird over 3 letters, in an inverted shield stamp. The style of the item is very like WMF, but I don’t think this is a mark of theirs. It would be either German or French. A very beautiful item, measuring 18cm high (7 inches) and 18.5cm by 13cm (7.1/4 inches by 5.1/8 inches).
