Henry Greener was the owner of Wear Flint Glass Works in Sunderland England .In 1858 he became partners with James Angus. This heraldic Demi-Lion holding a star trademark, on this cake salver was registered on November 29, 1876. This cake salver is 7 3/4 outside rim x 4 ½” high . Salver is pressed glass and was made in a hinged mold and has a few small air bubbles in the glass due to being plunged when made. These are often refered to as cake plate, cake stand, dessert stand and sometimes even sweet meats or tidbits trays. Greener was well known for Political/Historical Glass. I do not know the British name for this pattern but the American pattern glass refers it to Paling, like Pickett fence. I believe this salver is flint glass due to it rings with sound when touched. It is excellent condition ,no chips or cracks.
