View Larger Image   Household Searchlight Recipe Book 1938   Description: Offering this wonderful 1938 edition of the Household Searchlight Recipe Book (cookbook), published by the Household Magazine, 1938 Printing, 1931, 1937 Copyright. Black cloth hard boards with decorative geometric checkerboard impressed designs on all three sides. Ornate raised pictorial and lettering on front, raised lettering on spine. Very good condition overall, no spine cracks, minor corner bumps and spine edge rubs. These recipe books were printed every year, so some improvement were made over the years, in this year, thicker hard board covers improved the tendency to warp or bend into the tabs opening in the pages. The covers on this book are near perfect in flatness. This is one of the nicer 1938 printing we have had! Pages are very clean, no tears or scribbles, slight age toning on tabs but very legible. Previous owner sign their name on the inside blank page. This book bears the old tab indexes for each category, one of the tabs has some very old clear tape on it that has darkened over the years, but the word CAKES can still be seen on that tab.
