Sterling silver scoop-like devise, with shell shape bowl and handle made to look like a coral twig. Inside the shell is gilt-washed. This is a sifter spoon for sprinkling castor sugar or icing sugar on your strawberries etc, and is a very decorative, attractive item. Most unusual.
The shell is hallmarked for Birmingham 1900. The maker’s mark is C.B & S.
There is also a “Patent 17124” in front of the mark.
Item measures 14.5 cm long and the bowl is 5.6 cm by 3.6 cm by 3.2 cm (5.3/4 inches long, and the bowl is 2.3/16 inches by 1.7/16 inches by 1.1/4 inches).
Excellent condition. Weight is approx. 30 grams.
