View Larger Image   Antique Large Brass Plumb Bob 42 Ounce   Description: This is a very nice, antique brass and steel plumb bob! It is 6.5" long, 42 ounce brass plumb bob with a steel point tip, and removable brass knurled cap. The steel tip has a fitted Morse taper on it, and it also provides the threads for the cap to screw onto. It has tiny dings on about all of the surface area, like what I usually call tool box dings from rolling around in a tool box, some are a little bigger as you can see in the pictures. The steel tip is clean, a little rounded at the point, but suitable for display, as it most likely hasn't been sharpened in many years. Most of these old plumb bobs have threaded tips so the tip could be removed and re-sharpened if so desired, that is the case with this one if you wish. The cap on this one is in good shape, good threads, held in place by a threaded steel center section, a nice design as steel to brass threads are stronger and last longer than brass to brass threads. As you can see, there is wear on this old tool almost everywhere, but it still has a unique quality of appearance desired by collectors.
