View Larger Image   Peck, Stow, & Wilcox Carpenters Ratchet Brace Pat. 1879   Description: This is a very nice, clean, late 1800's patented ratchet hand brace, and it has a 10" swing. It is marked "PAT.FEB.11.1879" and there is on other patent date on the ratchet system frame, but it was not evenly struck, and is not clear enough to read. It is also marked "NO. 0102" basically a number used by P.S.& W. (PECK, STOW, & WILCOX), as we have or have had other with the P.S. & W. mark on them before with the 102 model number, and the same type of chuck jaws and flip lever ratchet control system. The chuck is in good condition with nice heavy duty, spring loaded jaw inserts, in good condition, the knurled part of the chuck or the chuck sleeve is steel with very little wear, very good working ratchet system as well. The head turns smoothly, capped with a very nice rosewood handle, and the crank handle matches it very well in condition and appearence. The condition is very good overall, with little wear overall. The sweep handle is also rosewood, and in very nice condition. In really good working condition overall.
