An unusual belt ornament, Sino-Tibetan in origin. It is made in silver, with a cornelian bead at the lower end. The shape is like a vase, with handles and pierced -work decoration of a bird in foliage on one side, and possibly a rat in a grape vine on the other. Bottom pulls out to reveal a tube with blackened metal wadding or flint in it. Suspended on a chain with a large hook to loop over a belt. Very nice work, with unusual decoration. The urn and ball bead measure 9 cm in length, and the suspension chain is another 11.5 cm including the hook (3.1/2 inches and 4.1/2 inches). Excellent condition.
