View Larger Image   Antique Saw Tooth Jointer Gauge for Hand Saw   Description: This is a quality made 5.5" long, hand-saw tooth jointer & Raker Gauge, designed for filing all the tops of the handsaw teeth to the same level or height before re-sharpening the teeth. Basically this model is designed to have a file mounted on one side held in by the threaded screw you see, then with the file being wider than provide slot it fits into, place the file part on top of the teeth, with the side rails of the jointer gauge riding on the side of the saw blade. File the tops of the teeth until they are all at the same level, than begin the tooth sharpening process. A standard flat file can be used, most user cut off the un-needed part of the file so it doesn't interfer with the process, the cut off can be done with a abrasive cut off wheel and a grinder. We have seen a few of these jointers over the years, they are basically the same as the Atkins jointers, but are not marked like the old Atkins' jointers were.
