This little trinket box is adorable! It is a reproduction from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and hearkens back to whaling days. The box measures about 1.75" by 2.25". The faux ivory imitates hand carved pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries and the beautiful details of the duck or waterbird motif are carved in a scrimshaw style. The piece has been stained with an antiquing medium, so it looks quite authentic. This is a great piece for the office or den of your favorite history buff.
