Lovely 19th century basket or bucket vase - made in porcelain, it has a very intricate applied twine-like surface to the china, which is gilded. On top of this are applied porcelain flowers and hand painted leaves, also very well detailed. The handle is a piece of old gold-coloured curtain cord. Quite stunning over-the-top piece! There are faults, of course, as there always seem to be with such delicate applied decoration. There are little chips to the end of the leaves, and although it is hard to see in amongst such a profusion of detail, there are just a few very tiny faults to the flowers. Vase measures 10.7 cm high and 10.4 cm diameter (about 4.1/4 inches by 4 inches). No maker's marks, just a handpainted 66 on the bottom (the hand-painters mark), and an impressed mark of 256.
