View Larger Image   "Lorraine", by Robert W. Chambers   Description: Vintage hard-to-find 1897 hardcover by Robert W. Chambers, published by A. L. Burt Company Publishers, New York. This is an epic novel of the events of the Franco-Prussion War, and focuses on the Imperial Princess, the daughter of Napoleon, and her native province of Lorraine. Book was not published with a dust jacket, but rather has an embossed cover. This book came from the estate of a local lady, Miss Lorraine, who died recently at the age of 102. Her father gave this book to her as a young girl because of the name, and she lovingly kept it all these years. It is in remarkably good condition for a book of this age. Edge wear is minimal and binding is good. There is considerable edge tanning due to age of the book, but the pages do not display severe tanning.
