The thread is silk with intense colors on a silk linen material. Arrasene or Diaper Couching stitched through out with the exception of the trees having very tiny French Knots. A Saying in German is stitched across the bottom of the piece. God Speed we believe is the first part but we aren't able to translate the rest of the words. Every part on this piece is hand stitched. It measures 56" long by 25" width. It is in very good condition with a few stains none larger then a dime. There is one small area of a stain that has caused a break in the material less then half inch, straight split. There is one small section of the tatting that has come undone. All very minor and could be fixed with stitching and a good dry cleaning. This is beautifully designed were the top section is draped over to the front with the tatting hanging right above the scene. There are fancy English Script initials in gold on the center of this section. If you prefer you can hang this with the top area under the main design. It hangs with exact evenness when folded in two.
