Art Pottery Divided Serving Dish, Bright Green with Black Threading
Description:
This four part serving dish is a wonderful piece of art pottery which I believe dates from the 1970s. It is shaped like a leaf with an open handle and four sections for candy, nuts, relishes or whatever. It is 12.5" long and 8.5" at its widest point and stands 2" tall at the handle. The base color is a semi-transparent chartreuse green glaze, which allows the intricate veining details to show through in a lighter shade. It also has a pattern of black threads -- I have seen this process in Native American pottery, where it is called the horsehair technique. The maker's mark on this piece is very light and seems to be "Rhubarb". It's a wonderful vintage dish that is certainly a conversation piece as well.
