Radford, called "STEEL SQUARE AND ITS USES", Volume 1 or 2 volumes. It's an in depth, well illustrated guide to layout of work with a steel square. Includes Volume I of a two book set, printed by The Radford Architectural Co., copyright in 1907 by William A. Radford. The books measures 6" x 8.6" x over 264 pages + index in the front, and about 50 pictures of house, and house plan layout advertising blueprints you could buy for $5 at the time (1907). Each plan gives an approximate cost of the house construction, some are quite large house, average price for construction about $1500-$2300 in 1907. There are also about 50 perspective views and floor plans of turn of the century homes in the back this book with nice engraving of exterior house style and floor plan layout of first and second floors. The green and silver cloth hard covers are clean with some light wear around the edges, some minor edge bumps, and a few light rubs on the cover. It's in good condition with minimal wear, no spine cracks no writing, good clean pages. Some page edge foxing when the book is closed, not seen on inside pages. We note an past owner's name written on the inside blank page. Some of the information covered includes: Polygons and mitrers. lists of angles for octagons & rakes. Hip rafters, brace, hip, and rafter cuttings. Bevels for hips, valleys and purlins. Angles and cuttings for trusses. Layout of ellipses, ovals, circles, with a square and different ways of measuring with the square, and many other issures involved with roof framing or construction.
