This is a nice clean hand forged antique utility tool similar in some ways to a cooper's tool called a bung auger, but I am leaning toward a dibble (a tool used in the garden to make a hole in firm soil for a small potted plant, or bulbs). The tool is cone shape, with a knife type edge all the way around the outside of the cone, and has a T-handle at the end, so it will may about any small size hole in the ground that you may wish. The cone part is 5" long and the tool is 8" long overall. If you turn it round it makes a 2" to 2.5" diameter hole at the top. It is a good study tool, with no rust, and it pretty sharp also. Some minor pitting noted, but no rust. Where do you find another one like it?
