#236Dated Western Electric 3-Slot 1965 Payphone

Typicalof what you would have seen in a booth in the 1950s and 1960s. I didnot install this old top sign, it was on there since the beginning.Western Electric ceased making 3-Slotters in around 1968. The numbersstamped inside and on back of these old phones are usually either223, 233, 234 or 236. Unseen differences inside created the differentnumbers and there appears to be a 1965 or 1966 date inside of this#236. This payphone has nice paint, instructions talkabout having a dime ready nickle will not work, nice porcelain, 1965 date on inside, traditionaldouble coil with “A” frame. U.S.A. 425 network in case you wantto hook it up to work (if you know how). All body parts are old, thebottom and backboard are conspicuously Western Electric.

The Vault Door you see on this phone is NOT a re-pro, but genuine old vault door originally equipped with lock and key. These doors are the same as those which date back into the 1930\'s. I am not familiar with subtle details which determine exact dates; I just know that the doors were made prior to the early 1970\'s and used in Automatic Electricpayphones until both Northern Electric and Automatic Electric ceased making them in 1972. If you had these made in the same design as these in 2016, the cost would likely exceed $35. Old doors such as these are, can have a peak value of $60 or more. And here they are, being offered as part of the payphone adding to the credibility of an old assembly.

I want to sell completely out! So I scraped up numerous unfinished payphone bottoms and tops, some new pieces but mostly old parts that had beensitting around here for decades. Some of these bodies were refinished. I\'ve reassembled a few using mostly old parts that also had accumulated through the years beginning in the early 1980\'s.

Where a payphone is sold as is such via , I will make observations and hope that my assistant-repairman will assist in this to seek contentment.Very strong effort is applied to represent the phone as it is described and shown; that is what you should receive. These are not lightweight, and shipping costs be what they are don\'t seem to reduce even though gasoline priceshave gone down. A certain amount of responsibility lies with you, a buyer in observing the reality of the purchase. And, again to my knowledge, all transactions have been successful so far as contentment of purchase is concerned.Thank you for acknowledging the conditions of sales.

Anything that was phone can still be a phone; with the re-arranging of wires and hooking up a line-cord (providing that the dial is okay and thehandset has functioning capsules). I have more of these and am in pursuit of selling all. If you drop coins through, the gong and dong should sound off as originally, although I did not try it. This is a nice coin-op itemalthough it doesn\'t require a coin to operate as it is now.
