1910 No. 153 WM. L. GILBERT BLACK with MAROON MARBLEIZED TRIM MANTLE CLOCK - RESTORED

With the passing of my husband of 48 years who sold under (estatesale0) on , I am having to liquidate some of his restored clocks. God Bless him now, and may he be remembered.

I have this week for your consideration a SUPER NICE William L. Gilbert No. 153 black mantle clock from 1910. The case was completely disassembled and cleaned and polished to look like adamantine finish it is so perfect. The Maroon marbleized trim is just beautiful with very minimal crazing. The scrolling was gold filled with 24K gold and is outstanding. All the finale (ribbed metal columns and holders (with two on each side of the bezel), lions heads, and the top finale has a touch of gold gilt to make them shine. This clock has the prettiest top finale I have ever seen on a clock. The feet that support this clock are lovely with a gold gilt, also.

This clock holds a lovely bezel and there is an original Arabic dial that did not have to be replaced, for the dial that was on the clock was almost perfect paper dial with the (G) for Gilbert. Also, the clock still retain the original Gilbert Steel Blue Hands, along with the original key and pendulum.

The signed and dated Gilbert movement is keeping great time. It was serviced by my late husband, and even a new spring replaced a broken one. He had cleaned and oiled it about a year ago. I have been testing it now for over two weeks, and it has been gonging on the hour to each and every hour, and hits a cup bell on the half-hour with a ding. It is running great in time and beat.

If you are looking to buy an antique Christmas gift this year over 100++ years old - this clock will be a prize for someone. Nice tall clock measuring: 16-1/2\" wide x 15\" tall x 7\" deep, and still retains most of the original No. 153 label on the bottom of the clock. Just remember that antique clocks of this kind are a great collectible. They also will make for a great family heirloom to pass on from generation-to-generation. The value does not decrease but increases as \"time passes on\".
