1926 art deco french SAM sterling silver black lacquer gold band liftarm lighter For Sale

offered is a fabulous and extremely rare art deco french 1926 sterling silver liftarm pocket petrol lighter. the high quality workshop hallmarked lighter features a solid silver body with a gold and black lacquer enamel stripe design. the mechanism is a single bar snuffer arm with double wheel flint unit. the flint wheel unit pulls out of the body to re-flint. the fuel screw has a spare flint holder. although hard ro read - the fuel screw says SAM patented in french along with hallmarks and work number. this important lighter mechanism was first invented by raphael strauss of paris france in 1926. it was manufactured by SAM of paris which the initials stand for Strauss - Allard - and Meyer. Sam was a luxury manufacturer and many of these liftarm models were retailed at hermes and boucheron. i have shown a 18k gold version marked boucheron from the bisconcini lighter book. the top side edge of body has interesting jeweler etched initials. the workshop made lighter measures 1-7/8\" tall x 1-3/8\" wide and is in good to very good used condition. the snuffer does not fit evenly with the wick. i am not sure if this is easy or difficult to correct. there is also a tiny top edge nick but hard to find. there is some mild age tarnish on mechanism that would clean with polish if desired. the lighter is extremely showy and almost brilliant in person. this lighter is quite special for vintage sterling silver with enamel lighter collectors especially with 18k gold bands and rich french lacquer. overall - an important late 1920\'s french workshop art deco liftarm lighter for the best of collections. if you collect rare sterling lighters - this is a must buy. insurance included in usa first class shipping. overseas is registered first class airmail. patent and book photo are not included in sale and digital copies can be emailed to winning buyer upon request.
