Super Sweet pair of 1930\'s US Navy Pilots wings and ribbon bar. The wings are marked Gemco Acid Test and have a jewelers catch. Early as no berries. The ribbon bar has a \"C\" catch, the Distinguished Flying Cross, USMC Expeditionary Medal and the WW 1 Victory Medal with 4 Campaign Stars. Too cool!
Now, I think I know who belonged to these. Blakeney\'s lists all decorations, awards etc between 1861 and 1955 awarded in the Marine Corps. Between 1917 and 1941 there were only 25 DFC\'s awarded. This ribbon bar and the wings aredefinitely from that period. Only 1 earned the DFC, MEM and had 4 Campaign Stars, Louis M Bourne, Jr. Serial number 097. He earned it for an Unguarded flightfrom Miami, FLA to Managua, Nicaragua 14 Jan 1928 and in command of the Aircraft squadrons, 2nd Brigade in Nicaragua. Now, how did I get the rest, Louis Milton Bourne was born 7 Oct1891 and Died 7 Jan 1935. He enlisted 29 Nov 1913. He saw service on the Helena, Saratoga, Frederick among others. He spent 18 month overseas During WW 1 with the 82nd CO (India CO)3rd Btln, 6th Marines and HQ Co, 5th Marines. Post war he served in Post War Germany near Koblenz, China, as a transportation Pilot in Nicaragua and other posts. I found a photo of him and his Fokker Transport aircraft. I also found an article that he died suddenly in 1935 from stomach Ulcers. Very tragic.
I cannot prove these were his. The evidence leads on to believe they certainly could have been. I have added norsubtracted anything to the ribbon bar.I\'m pricing based on the value of the items, not the ownership. As a MAS was named after him, my guess the value could be a bunch if it could be proven.
Returns only if the item is materially misrepresented. Payment is expected within 3 days of sales closing. Thanks for looking
