1960s RARE SYD MEAD US STEEL FUTURISTIC AUTOMOBILE PRINT DRAWING ART CAR DESIGN:
$214.95

This is a really cool piece by artist Syd Mead.
This was not a print that was put out on the market for sale to the public. It was one of his earliest portfolio\'s and I was told likely from his first set. US Steel would have made them available by request to others in the industry, but these were not distributed as widely as some of the other Syd Mead artwork.
The bottom left corner states: Created and Produced under the direction of the Advertising and Market Development Divisions of United States Steel by the Hansen Company, 307 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago 1, Illinois. I have not yet found any others out online with this in the bottom left corner.
I believe this is from the early 1960s (pre zip code on the above address and purchased with some other early 60s items). I bought this in Huntsville, AL at an estate sale and I am sure it belonged to an engineer as some of the other items were mid and early 1960s NASA posters and prints. I did not know anything about these and wasn\'t even sure if they were Syd Mead, but a fellow er contacted me and told me to look closer (each of these I have I saw were signed MEAD). I now have heard from two people and believe this is in fact from the early 60s and was part of his first portfolio packet. I haven\'t had anyone say these are rare but the first set is apparently the hardest to find just due to the fact they are older and likely the earliest ones had a more narrow distribution. They are definitely \"scarce\" if not rare and hard to find. I have looked at google images and did not see any of the ones that I have so that also leads me to believe this is not an easy piece to find.
Condition - These appear to have just been rolled up and sitting. Fortunately not crushed or ripped up or stepped on, but also not kept stored like a prize possession either. It is 32\" x 16\" with about a 2.5\" white border. There are some small tears around the border and some light brown spots on the border areas and a little can be seen in the light blue sky of the print. This one does have about a 2\" scratch in the lake/tree area of the print. It is a faded scratch and not real obvious to a casual viewer - see closeup. Nothing real bad, but certainly not a \"9\" or a \"10\". Would still look great framed with the Matting covering the white border and hiding the edges!
Please contact me if you can educate me a little more on this.
Will ship rolled in a box.

Nice nostalgic item and a great collectible piece of Vintage Nostalgic Americana!

Note: I sell alot of old vintage pennants on . Many of these have folds, pin holes, possible soil marks, or other minor flaws. Assume they are not perfect and you will be happy with any of them.

If you are unhappy with any item after receiving it, I offer a full refund.

Please read my condition of the item above. If I describe an issue, such as a tear in the pennant, please do not give negative response and say \"there was a tear in the pennant\". I know that sounds silly, but I will get emails from time to time where someone is unhappy and when they tell me why I see it was clearly written in my condition section above, but they don\'t want to hear me tell them that. So I politely explain they can return it for a full refund and they don\'t want to hear that either. They would rather just complain. I don\'t know how to fix buyers like that, but if you think you fit in that category please reevaluate your life and become a more positive human being for mankind and especially for those who have to put up with you every day.

If you want to ask specific questions about the condition before offerding I will certainly do my best to answer them. If there is something that concerns you in the pics or description, it is always best to ask on the front end.

Thanks for looking and please look at other pennants that I have for sale! I will combine shipping if you let me know before I print the postage. If I have no offers and you are interested in multiple pennants, let me know or make an offer and I will get back to you. Also, if you see one I have had listed awhile in my store, feel free to make an offer. I usually lower the price on any that don\'t sell every couple of weeks. Please note that any request for a lower price should be \"reasonable\". It wastes time for both of us for a 50% offer.

My motto.......offer HIGH AND offer OFTEN.
