A magnificent antique, perhaps 1930\'s - 1940\'s, hand carved devotional statue of the Virgin Mary, Lady of Fatima, in white robe. She has the molded bleeding heart with thorns attached to her chest, a gilt metal halo with stars holding blue rhinestones is attached at back - and is removable. Statue retains the original hand painted surface with gilt trim robe. She has brown and white glass eyes. She appears on a mound of earth on painted and gilt stand. Metal tag of the maker on front: Casa Thedim, Officina de Escultura, Sacra do Comendador. Jose Ferreira Thedin, S. Mamede Coronado - Portugal. Measures with halo 43\" tall, statue without halo 39\" tall. Measures 14\" wide by 12\" deep, the bottom base 9-1/2\' wide by 8\" deep. Excellent condition: wood without chips or cracks, most minor nick to paint here or there, paint flake on upper lip of Virgin. Eyes are fine.
