As authenticated/documented to be 1902 Curb bridle in 1996 copyright \"BITS AND BRIDLES ENCYCLOPEDIA\" by Dr. Garhard A. Malm:#2 marking on back of bit at junction of mouth & near-side cheek piece (4 1/2\" mouth); other end of bit marked with \"U.S.\" The manufacturer\'s mark is placed on the near side cheek piece at the end of the mouth piece-marking is \"Y&T\" for Yale and Townsend.Enlisted men\'s bridle, with right & left cheek pieces. Right has bronze center bar buckle; left has bronze Saalbach buckle (with loop at lower end). Saalbach buckle lower end loop has leather tag with \"7\" marking attached by wire (horse #). Both cheek pieces have bronze center bar buckles sewed to lower end.
Throat latch has bronze center bar buckle sewn on each end.The brown band ornaments are sheet copper, .109\" thick, bearing the coat of arms of U.S. in relief, with loops of .109\"thick soft brass wire soldered to rear sides to receive brow band.Thank you for looking; any questions, please ask.
