Up for offers is an 1852, could be 1854 - the date is a little hard to read, Chatellerault French infantry sword. This particular specimen looks to have been captured by the Germans at some point in its life as noted by the re-issue stamping. It was brought home to the US by a returning WWI vet. It was found with his memorabilia, no story about its origin or how he got it. Blade is 30\" long, handle looks to be wood or leather covered wood, no cracks.
