For Sale: Antique Primitive Condition Coca-Cola Red Oak Wooden Stave Barrel Soda KegThis barrel is unusual and rare in that it is larger than most others and has 8 stainless steel bands (most others have 6 or less). This barrel also has nice claw feet. Dispensed Coca-Cola and Hires Root Beer. It\'s 30\" high, 24\" diameter; 80\" circumference and weighs approx 100 pounds, Was manufactured by the Multiplex Faucet Company in St Louis Missouri. Will need refurbishing to make operational. Some of the operating parts are still inside. The underneath has a moderate wood crack. The identifying Coca Cola marks have worn off long ago. These models were almost all used by the Coca Cola Company.
These older dispensers were around long before the invention of soda machines. Due to this fact, one of the only ways for Americans to enjoy their favorite soft drink, Coca-Cola, was to get it directly from their local soda fountain. Syrup dispensers were used to apportion the appropriate amount of syrup into a glass, and then the soda jerk would add carbonated water. It was in this way, through syrup dispensers, that soda was dispensed until the 1930\'s when modern style soda dispensers were invented.
