Here is a hard to find Seth Thomas Sonora 4 Bell chime clock in perfect working condition housed in a huge oak cabinet ready for your home or office. These high quality chiming clocks do not come around that often and when they do, it is more common to see them not running and in need of very costly repairs and case work. This outstanding example needs nothing but a new home. Please research these clocks if you are not familiar with them. This one is being offered fresh to the market operating correctly in excellent working order. The tuned bells sound great and play succeeding Westminster notes on each quarter hour; on the hours plays complete 16 note Westminster cycle and counts the hours by striking one bell. The sound resonates very nicely, but can easily be silenced with chime/silent switch. Please note: this is most definitely not a beginner\'s clock. It is a very delicate and complex mechanism with two separate mechanical movements that cannot be abused or mishandled in any way without damage resulting. Please consider this carefully before offerding on this fine clock. As far as condition is concerned, the oak cabinet has a near mint original finish intact and shows only a few nicks and very mild crazing appropriate for age and use. The unusually large and striking convex porcelain dial with Arabic numerals is gleaming white, easy to read, with quarter hours marked, but has a visible repair around the left winding arbor (please inspect photos carefully); and It must also be mentioned that one rear cabinet foot has been replaced. The large oak cabinet is 17\" tall by 12\" wide by 8 3/8 ths\"deep, with 8\" dial, 8.5\" bezel, original convex glass. The two separate mechanical movements look to be in great working order, with the striking movement unmarked and the time movement stamped \"Seth Thomas Made In U.S. America\". This clock has been well cared for and serviced by a professional repairman. Perhaps the clock experts out there can explain why this clock is arranged with five hammers striking on only 4 bells, or perhaps this could have also been outfitted as a five bell clock? Not a clock expert here but will gladly amend this description upon receiving any helpful information from knowledgeable horologists. Either way, a fine collector\'s clock for your consideration. Winding key included (not pictured) is not original but works fine.
