Antique Straight Razor. W. Taylor. Sheffield Cleaver 6/8 Fancy Spine. Horn Scales Shave Ready
This is a massive, meaty wedge cleaver straight razor in excellent horn scales. This 19th century razor exhibits the height of the Sheffield cutler\'s art. The spine is fancy, it\'s a traditional wedge and has a barbers notch. Aside from a few dark spots on the blade, the steel is in outstanding condition. All marks are deeply impressed into the steel. The horn scale have original pins and there is just a bit of stress fracturing near the pins. The razor is stable in the scales. This razor is shave ready.If this listing is for a straight razor, be mindful that you will be receiving a razor that is 50-300 years old. Since we don't restore razors, your razor will not have new scales or a blade that we have refinished, so expect imperfections and age-related condition - especially if they are mentioned in the item description.Practice good post-shave care and the blade and scales should remain as you received it. We recommend wiping down your blade with a very small amount ofmineral oil after carefully drying them. Sewing machine oil works too. They keep moisture in the air away from the blade. Then store your razorin a dry place. Dry the scales carefully. If the scale is made of a natural material, a high-quality wax may help keep them in good condition if applied conservatively.
