Here is a fantastic inkwell, made out of thick cast bronze / brass?
Looking at the base, it is possible that it was once gilded. There are tiny flecks of gold between the deeper petals on the surface, and the underside is a brighter color than the top.
It is stamped ANVERS (see photo).
Gorgeous ornamentation forms an art nouveau sunflower.
Probably from the late 1800\'s, early 1900\'s.
The actual glass inkwell is missing.
Measurements: Approx. 7 1/2\" long (with the handle) x 5\" wide x 3\" tall.
Condition: Very Good overall; Please, see photos! Missing its glass insert. Hinge works well. Please e-mail me for additional photos or if you can give me any additional information about this beautiful piece. This belonged to my grandmother who lived in Canada and used it through the 1950\'s. My mother says she remembers seeing it on her mother\'s desk even in the 1920\'s.If you are an inkwell collector and can give me information about this well or tell me where to find more info, I would be very grateful. I also don\'t really know how to price it. If you like it and would like to make an offer, please email me.Thank you for looking.
