AutomaticElectric Chicago Nice Chrome Working 3-Slot Payphone with 1948 “SlotMachine Opening” Bottom

SaysAutomatic Electric Chicago ILL U.S.A. Expect it to dial out, talkand listen (plug it in to the RJ11 jack (ordinary line-cord jack)). Although a very few exceptions, ringers were not put into old3-slotters. The style of this bottom having the name appear on aslanted front portion was from 1912 and changed to flat front in1957. When chrome plating of payphones began (by 1963), there was nodiscrimination! Eve and any year got plated – 1912 or 1948.

Thispayphone an old direction card indicated by the lack of mentioningarea code and quarter. No area code and reference to 25 cents, helpsdate the instructions which were printed under the direction oftelephone repair and supply companies of Chicago who were no longeroperating in the 1980\'s. However three of the more recent partsinclude the inside channels, tray and the upper housing making an oldpayphone talk and dial out again as was done in the early mid 1980\'s,but we\'re aware of a giget that with some risk and considerableknow-how can provide this service. The only reason “Slot Machine”is used is because the design of the open slot escutcheon is not verydifferent from those on old slot machines.

The Vault Door you see on this phone is NOT a re-pro, but genuine old vault door originally equipped with lock and key. These doors are the same as those which date back into the 1930\'s. I am not familiar with subtle details which determine exact dates; I just know that the doors were made prior to the early 1970\'s and used in Automatic Electricpayphones until both Northern Electric and Automatic Electric ceased making them in 1972. If you had these made in the same design as these in 2016, the cost would likely exceed $35. Old doors such as these are, can have a peak value of $60 or more. And here they are, being offered as part of the payphone adding to the credibility of an old assembly.

I want to sell completely out! So I scraped up numerous unfinished payphone bottoms and tops, some new pieces but mostly old parts that had beensitting around here for decades. Some of these bodies were refinished. I\'ve reassembled a few using mostly old parts that also had accumulated through the years beginning in the early 1980\'s.

Where a payphone is sold as is such via , I will make observations and hope that my assistant-repairman will assist in this to seek contentment.Very strong effort is applied to represent the phone as it is described and shown; that is what you should receive. These are not lightweight, and shipping costs be what they are don\'t seem to reduce even though gasoline priceshave gone down. A certain amount of responsibility lies with you, a buyer in observing the reality of the purchase. And, again to my knowledge, all transactions have been successful so far as contentment of purchase is concerned.Thank you for acknowledging the conditions of sales.

Anything that was phone can still be a phone; with the re-arranging of wires and hooking up a line-cord (providing that the dial is okay and thehandset has functioning capsules). I have more of these and am in pursuit of selling all. If you drop coins through, the gong and dong should sound off as originally, although I did not try it. This is a nice coin-op itemalthough it doesn\'t require a coin to operate as it is now.
