RARE VTG Brer Rabbit Molasses Advertising Premium Plush Stuffed Animal 27\" BunnyCheck out this fantastically rare advertising premium for Brer Rabbit Molasses. The ONLY way to get this fella was to collect Brer Rabbit Molasses labels and send away for him. He was created specifically for this 1963 Easter advertising campaign and was never sold anywhere else, so he\'s ridiculously hard to find. SEE PHOTO #2 ABOVE for original 1963 Ad (ad not included in sale).What a fantastic, RARE find for Advertising, Vintage Plush and Uncle Remus Collectors alike.Brer Rabbit is a dapper fellow in his felt bow tie and rand and black tux with tails. He was never a self stander as depicted in the ad (you could get away with things like that in 1963!), but he sits up nicely. He is listed in the original ad as 27\", and that measurement is with his ears extended: from head to toe not counting his ears, he is more along the lines of 20\". Condition: Brer\'s yellow plush is in soft, good (age-appropriate) condition and so is his felt. Because he was loved long time by his original owner, however, Brer does have some condition issues and we photographed him extensively to show them in great detail. There is a small, fingernail-sized rip in the hip area of his pants right under the beltline and the black pupils of his eyes (particularly his right eye) are experiencing age disintegration. The stitching on Brer\'s red tux jacket is in yellow thread so you can see it on the seams of his back and sleeves, but I do not think this is any kind of damage or pulling; I think it is just the color choice of the thread so it probably always showed up as it does now. The seams are all nice and tight and intact. The felt of the tux tails has some persistent wrinkles and could probably use a good steam or ironing (the material is old enough and fragile enough I\'m not going to try that).The biggest condition issues is Brer\'s ears. Both ears have age-related wire issues. The wire is there and can be easily manipulated to put the ears in different positions, but nothing I tried could get them to stand up on their own. As you can see from our many photos, the ears look great when extended, and I think they can be fixed to self stand with a little TLC on the restoration front, but as is, they flop down to the sides when left to their own devices.
