The custom crafted knife is the 1989 Case Centennial model BHC1050SS, which has the very rare buffalo horn handles with the old-style flat nickle silver Case shield. There are a few small chips on the handle but very minor. The serial number on the bolster is surrounded by the "long tail C" design. The blade is polished Case stainless steel deep etched with "NUESTRA SENORA de ATOCHA", "Shipwrecked September 6, 1622", and the ship Atocha. The blades have never been used or sharpened.
The deep-struck Commemorative coin is one try ounce of silver taken from an 80 pound silver bar salvaged from the Atocha, discovered on July 20, 1985, over 360 years after it had sunk during a hurricane off the Florida coast on Sept. 6, 1622. The front of the coin has the ship Nuestra Senora de Atocha, while the obverse of the coin features the Official Case Centennial logo.
The oak display case has cultured marble lid that features detailed fine art of the Atocha at sea. The cultured marble lid is custom fitted into the grooved side of the oak display. The marble top slides over to display the knife and coin, which are on a bright red felt platform that is pre-formed to hold the knife and coin securely in the display case.
