She was an acrobact and he was a clown … mostly with Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Baily Circus from 1919 through 1956. SO PAINTINGS WERE DONE IN THAT PERIOD.They had no children so their home and family was the circus. Originally Irene was married to Burts best friend and partner clown sometimes. He was killed in a circus acciden. From what I can piece together, sometime later Irene andBurt struck up a closer relationship and eventually married.
Irene was also an amazing artist and photographer as you will see by the extroadinary items coming up for offer.If you are offerding on any of the original 50-85+ year old negatives, which rarely ever come up for offer … please note that they have not been used for any prior publications.
