    The culture of Japanese sword

The sword/nihonto in Japan was called Katana.but according to the sword shape and size, there are Tachi swords,Katana,Wakizashi and short(Tanto) swords. The famous swords exsist with graceful outlooking as a weapon and some are also as arts and collections.they take the symbol of the samurai worrior at the same time.In Japan, the people who make swordswere called \"sword smith\" or \"blade smith\".

Each Samurai warrior kept two swords on his person - a long sword/Katana, and a short sword/Wakizashi. These swords were his principal weapons gut they also were an expression of his class and personality. The Katana is more suitable for the Long distance, and the Wakizashi usually used in the short distance . because of the length difference, the Wakizashi will take less time when you take the blade out of the saya .

    Share and study area

There are two kinds of martial arts which trained the use of the swords: Ken-do and Iai-do. Ken-do trains how to fight and the person being trained wears a protector and fights with a sword made of bamboo. The cross sectional shape of the grip of his bamboo sword is round. Iai-do teaches the skill of drawing a sword and striking with it. The cross sectional shape of the sword grip is oval. Iai-do teaches several techniques of how to respond in many different situations of combat.

\"Hagakure\" (literally it is \"the shadow of the leaves\") is a text of the Bushi, a class of the Samurais, which says, \" The way to be a Bushi is finding how to die.\" Loyalty and faith are most important. The Ken, or sword, is the spirit of the Bushi. To die for one\'s lord and for Ken is for their honor. To be killed by the Ken is an honorable way to die.

    Misunderstanding

we sometimes got the question of people ask \"can the sword cut iron/wire?\" or \"can the sword cut bone?\"It is not wiseif you bought a Japanese sword which is sharpened to cut iron/wire,no matter how much your sword is,carbon steel or folded steel, clay tempered or not, that will make the edge of the sword turned or break down the blade.after that you will waste a lot of time to do the maintainence if that is still useful.what you see in the movie or video show that the sword can cut the hair with one breath;cut the iron/wire just like cut the mud, those are one-sided and exaggerated. they make the sword mythical.if you want to purchase a sword for collection, you can get the sword which is with high quality, but if you just wanta sword for Tameshigiri, you can choose a sword which is made of carbon steel or folded steel.that is not impossible that there is no hurt or damage with the blade at all after Tameshigiri, just do the maintenance well.

In the real life if that is in a fighting, the right way to stop the opponent is with the back of the blade but the cut edge,if you want to do a cutting test, you can cut the bamboo trees(fresh),tatami or slice paper to instead of cuttint the wire.

we have the Chinese sword which can cut wire,if you are interested in,you can go and check in our store.the blade of that swords are usually very thick and heavy and sharpness is not so good as the Japanese Material: high quality Folded steel,By Folding 15 times, creating 32768 layers, clay tempered, graceful cley tempered hamon line&Folded hamon layers,
    Overall length: 103cm/40.6inch
    Blade length: 70cm/27.6inch
    Blade width: 3.2cm/1.26inch
    Blade thickness: 0.7cm/0.28inch
    Handle(tsuka) : 26cm/10.24inch ,Wrapped with Real rayskin & silk & ornamented with Alloy menuki,fixed with 2 mekugi(pegs)
Blood Groove: Long Hi on each side
    Tsuba (Guard): Iron Tsuba
Other fittings: Brass habaki/seppa+Alloy fuchi & kashira
    Tang: Full tang
    Saya (scabbard): hardwood lacquered Saya
Accessories(free as a gift): a sword bag(color is sent by random)

TSUKA: The Tsuka (handle) is made of hard wood(wider on the 2 ends and thinner in the middle of the handle),tightly wrapped over Real Samegawa (Ray skin) with synthetic silk Ito. The Fuchi (sleeve) and Kashira (buttcap) are made of Alloy. The Tang of the sword is secured by two Mekugi (pegs) . Two Menuki (ornaments) are on each side of the Tsuka.
TSUBA: the tsuba is used to protect your hand from sliding onto the blade during thrusts.
HABAKI(blade collar):is a one piece brass construction. the main point of the habaki is to make the saya tight to the blade,so it is normal if there is scratch on.
SEPPAS(spacer): Two Seppas secure the Tsuba( if the tsuba is not so tight after a long time, you can disassemble the sword and put more seppas there.
SAYA: The saya (sheath) of the sword is made of hardwood, tied with Sageo brass Kurigaga (knob) of the scabbard.
BO-Hi: Actually it is misunderstanding of the Bo-Hi as Blood-groove,the Bohi has been added to the blade in order to lighten it and provide audible response when swung.but if you want the blade with strength powerful, you can choose the sword blade without BO-HI.

Video ofTameshigiri, the swordissharp enough to cutbamboo and grass mattings, but should bewith good technique and right gesture; The video here justwanna to show you the sharpnessof the blade,WE DO NOT SUGGEST YOU DO THIS IF YOU ARE NEW WITH THE SWORD.

    Package Includes:
1 * assembled sword with saya
1 * sword bag(color is sent randomly, free as a gift,no guarantee of return or exchange)

The material used with the blade

the blade is made of the high qualtiy carbon steel which is folded by 15 times Creating 32768 layers (It has the best quality in folded steel). The higher quantity of layers provides more unique and mystical hada patterns, which defines and displays the craftsman\'s experience and knowledge of traditional metallurgy passed down from generation to generation. Only the utmost skilled bladesmiths (Toushyo) and polishers (Togi-shi) can bring out the beauty and life from the Shinsakuto live blade. During the forging process, all of the slags and impurities of the steel are burned off and folded forged to an uncompromised strength with an extremely sharp cutting edge. This high quality blade can easily cut through tatami straw mats or bamboo for Tameshigiri or Batto-do use.

The clay tempered craft with the blade

There is a very important and special way-Clay tempered with the blade of the sword, and the way we use is the ancient clay temper craft.the blade will be set apart as 2,one is the back of the blade and the other is the cut edge side.the other side will be covered by the thin powder and other mixture which is protected as a secret recipe, the back side will be stick with the thicker clay mud.coz the different thickness of the back of the blade and the cut edge side, and the different of the clay mud and the mixture, when the blade cooling to be a same low temperature at the same time after the heating by high temperature, this results in a relatively quicker cooling of the edge during quenching, producing a hard edge(60HRC) and softer back.that is why the blade has a radian, and there is a clay tempered wave line

This blade comes with a full length Tang which greatly enhances the strength of the sword. this sword is strong enough to cut through a thick bamboo tree with a single strike yet sharp enough to slice paper.
