Up for sale is a newPappenheimer I Rapier with a 42 inch Bated rapier blade. This sword has a black leather handle and blackened hilt and pommel with real wool red felt behind the shells.Scott Wilson the sword maker behind Darkwood is regarded as one of the top sword makers in the business. His weapons are historically accurate both in styling and performance, and they are built for years of hard training. This rapier is superbly balanced and the weight at about three pounds is well within historic specs. Unfortunately due to several serious injuries to my dominant hand I am unable to wield this sword easily. I am in love with this beautiful and fearsome rapier but I have come to terms with the fact that I will likely never recover full strength in my hand. I have a lighter Darkwood sword that suits my current needs well so I have decided to part with this splendid piece.
This sword is new as it arrived from Darkwood. I do extensive footwork agility solo drills as part of my training and decided that was the best exercise to test out the weight of the sword before I crossed blades with anyone; as a result it has never been in a bout and never had edge to edge contact with another sword.
Although it pains me to part with this weapon I take solace in the knowledge that whoever possesses this rapier next will allow it to realize its full potential.
