District of Columbia Police & Fire Press Badge For Sale

This is a 1920\'s MPDC fire and police press badge. Its believed to be sterling silver and containing the District of Columbia center seal. The badge has acontrol number in the lower panel 215, a verylow number for this series of badge. The badge is ornate and has excellent patina. The size is 1 1/2 x 1 1/2. The rear clasp is a left swing style clasp and in working condition. No alterations or repairs have been done to the badge. No hallmarks or control numbers on the reverse facing. Nosterling stamped on the badge. Theonly way forthe press to enter a crime and obtain information was topresent the badge to supervisor or officer in charge. Depending on circumstances the press would or would not be allowed on the scene.
This badge isalmost 100 years old and is a fine example of memorabilia for any collectionwhether its a police, fire, or political collection.No other information is known of the badge.
