Marked G. IBBERSON & Co On front tang, reverse reads MADE IN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND. The master blade is etched ABERCROMBIE & FITCH Co NEW YORK.
All the blades on this great knife were Plated, which is why the photos look as though there is pitting, and there is a little, but the discoloration where the plating is worn makes it look far worse in the photos. The knife is uncleaned condition, 100% original. Very rare to see any knife plated, but I have seen a few sailor knives treated this way.
Knife is 5\" closed, with a 3 3/8\" master blade that has good snap, tip is a bit rounded. The fid, screwdriver/file and corkscrew all have good snap also. The can opener is tight but has no snap and may never had any?. Nickel bail, pins, and shield. Brass liners. The pin for the fid and master has a Birdseye rivet.
The gnarly Stag scales are fine and gorgeous with great color and no defects. Extra long tweezers are 3\", pick is long also at 3 1/8\"
I would think this knife is extremely rare, and maybe a one off.
