GOLDEN & CO San FRANCISCO WHISKEY Jug PRE-Pro 1917-19 w/GRAPHICAL Trade CATALOG

*** NOTE: This sale is actually for two items - a scarce one gallon size Golden & Co San Francisco liquor jug and also included is an even harder to find originalGolden & Co trade catalog/price list in amazingly readable condition !!!

The jug is a 1gallon size and has double handle loops and even complete with the original wood and wire bail handle.

According to the pre pro website, this Company was only in business for 2 years from 1917-1919 which makes it pretty short-lived as far as liquor bottles go. They operated at 62 Pine Streetdown in the old part of San Francisco:

They were considered a mail order only liquor house, I also found an old city directory from 1917 that lists them at 163 Market Street.

It has tons of embossingon the front inside a large circular slugplate:FULL GALLON GOLDEN & CO. MAIL ORDER HOUSE SAN FRANCISCO, CAL. NET. CONTENTS 1 GALLON.

No embossing on the base.

Beautiful medium amber color, lighter in the sun, about 11 inches tall and 6 inches across.

Pretty crudely made too for an early ABM type bottle, top of the neck is lopsided like it was pushed in during mfg, pretty cool looking - check it out.

Now, the included catalog contains 32 pages and has many illustrations of their various liquor products. There is no date in it but I\'d say pre 1920 for sure judging by the bottle shapes and label styles.

Several pictures shown of this exact 1 gallon jug which was used to contain a variety of different brands depending on how it was paper labeled.

Pretty cool advertising in the front stating that it could ship and how it would be done to a DRY COUNTY, even states it was LEGAL to do that!!!

Catalog is about 6 inches x 3-1/4 inches.

Jug and catalog are in excellent overall condition for being close to 100 years old - no real issues, no real damage to jug and I\'ve looked it over pretty well,no cracks or bad chips, one tiny flake off the top of the lip edge (see photos) really very minor.

Glass attaching loops (ears) and bail handle are still strong and in good shape.

Catalog is clean and still very readable - would be hard to find either in any better condition - please see all photo details for an accurate representation.

Just a great old whiskey saloon jug and a nice catalog go-with to boot all for one money if you WIN THIS sale !!!

All of the embossing on the front is very crisp, clear and readable.
