Imperial German, WW1, Wurttemberg, Enlisted Man\'s Belt & Brass Buckle Unit Marks: $399.00
The Kingdom of Wurttemberg was one of four Kingdoms that along with Prussia, Bavaria and Saxony coupled with several Grand Duchies, Duchies and Principalities united into Germany at the conclusion of the Franco-Prussian War in 1871. This Enlisted Man\'s Buckle & Belt is a mid-late war example stamped by the maker A. RICKE 1917. The Belt has the following stamped inside J.W. III A.K. ( Armee Korps ) COTTBUS ( 2nd largest city in Brandenburg SE of Berlin ). The buckle is pre-war brass with a great patina. By the middle of the war anything that was reflective in the soldiers uniforms was ordered to be dulled for obvious reasons. This belt is a mid-late war example that started off dyed black and is stamped 95. The length of the belt is 37\". The capital of Wurttemberg is Stuttgart where Mercedes-Benz is headquartered. Albert Einstein was born in Wurttemberg. The motto on the buckle translates to Fearless and True. The Kingdoms, Grand Duchies, Duchies and Principalities that composed the German Empire all had distinctive uniform items. 2014 marked the hundredth anniversary of the start of the Great War. This item is quite rare and in remarkable condition for 100+ years old. Multiple purchases can be combined for postage savings. See my other listings for an assortment of Great War items.
