Opal (Hyalite)Zacatecas, Mexico5.9 x 3.7 x 3.6 cm
This piece hosts a mound of super fluorescent gemmy hyalite opal from a still poorly known locality in Zacatecas, Mexico. It does not require a UV lamp to get this material to fluoresce - this opal is so fluorescent that it glows not just in daylight, but in neon light and LED light, and even in the shade. The best thing about this specimen, and the thing that makes it stand out from the others from this locality, is that the opal is isolated, standing out from the matrix. This makes it easier to see the opal in all its gemmy fluorescent glory. There is a patch of opal on the matrix, as is more typical for this find, that can be seen on the first, second, and fourth pictures.
I am a mineral collector, not a mineral dealer, who has decided that he just has too many rocks. The specimens I am culling from my collection and selling on are not taken from wholesale rooms and are not bargain basement castoffs. They were not bought for resale but instead were handpicked by me for my collection. They are much better than what you usually find online. I never make a purchase unless I already know what the market price is, and I believe the price I paid for this specimen is at least fair, if not a bargain. So you are getting excellent pieces at reasonable prices.
For international buyers, I will ship using the method you choose (USPS International Priority, UPS, or FedEx only) and insure the package according to your instructions. I will add any shipping and insurance charges to the invoice after sale. After shipment, I will provide proof that I sent the package as long as the shipping method provides such proof. If the package is lost or damaged, I will only reimburse the buyer up to whatever insurance is recovered. Please note that it is difficult to get shippers to pay insurance claims on lost or damaged international packages, but I will make my best attempt to obtain such compensation. International buyers can always return to me any purchase they don’t want, for any reason, so long as: a) I receive the item within two weeks of purchase and in the same condition as when it was sent; and b) the buyer reimburse me for all shipping and insurance charges. International buyers can find out how much shipping and insurance will cost by going to the USPS, UPS, or FedEx websites and getting a calculation of the cost of shipping and insurance (if desired) from the 99501 US ZIP code. Sorry this is complicated but I want to be fair while mitigating the hassle and risk of international shipments.
