Japanese SUMIDA Pottery Tankard Pitcher & 4 Mugs - Signed RyosaiThis is Japanese Sumida pottery made around 1925. Mugs are all signed by Inoue Ryosai. Includes a tall tankard pitcher and four handled mugs. All 5 pieces have an unglazed background, flowing glaze part way down from top and applied glazed people doing various things. Scenes usually are fables from folklore. Insides of mugs are mostly green. This set does have damage. The pitcher appears to be fine, with only wear to background reddish color. It measures about 7\" wide at handle and 12-1/2\" high. Of the four mugs, two have repaired handles, one has crack with lower half on figure missing. Fourth mug is fine. Mugs measures 4-1/2\" wide at handles and 4-1/2\" high. Condition: all pieces show some loss to reddish unglazed backgrounds. High buyer pays shipping.
